In terms of privacy this page does not store or share your location in any way. All data and calculations
are done on your mobile phone.
When travelling in areas where there's limited or no mobile internet access, if this page has already been
opened the app will work once you press Start. Of course speed cameras are mostly located where you'll find
you have mobile internet access. Apps installed on your mobile may not work if they need to connect to the internet
for data and there's no mobile internet access.

As people report mobile safety cameras and there's sufficient coverage in each state to begin, Safety Camera Warning will provide an option to
include mobile safety camera warnings as well as fixed camera warnings.
With your help reporting mobile safety cameras this page becomes even more useful for everyone.
Safety Camera Warning
Safety Camera Warning provides a visual and audible warning as you approach a red light camera or speed camera location.
With your help, by reporting mobile speed cameras, mobile phone/seatbelt cameras, or a police radars, it's hoped
to also announce warnings in known areas for these additional cameras.
As you approach a red light/speed camera location the screen will turn red and the words camera nearby will be
announced. The warning is to help people drive appropriately for the location.
Press on the Start button to start monitoring your location.
Reporting Cameras
Whilst red light cameras and speed camera sites are known, it would be good if this page could also warn you if you're
near an area where there's mobile speed cameras, mobile phone/seatbelt cameras or police radar cameras. If you see one
of these cameras and you're a passenger it would help if you could report by pressing one of the report buttons. Drivers
can later use the Report Later option using a computer or their mobile phone.
NOTE: If you report a camera in error, simply report again soon after and the entries will be discarded.
TIPS
With Apple iPhones the location marker video pops out fullscreen when the Start button is pressed. Pinch the location marker video
so it reduces back into the page. (Do not close the video.) This is not required in other platforms including the iPad.
The video is stop the page closing such as when a mobile phone locks.
Speed Camera Warning is only active whilst open and showing on the mobile. It does not work in the background.
Speed Camera Warning will stay open unless something happens such as receiving a call which takes over the screen.
Simply bring Speed Warning Camera back and it will continue assisting you.
The visual/audible alert does not differentiate between a speed camera, red light camera,
or point-to-point cameras.
The approximate distance to the speed camera location defaults to a radius of 250 metres. If you find
this too short or too long, you can adjust the distance by pressing the distance button. The distance
button cycles between 100, 250, 350, 500 and 1,000 metres.
In testing I've found the GPS accuracy can be quite variable for different devices and different situations.
Only testing will let you know how your device performs. In the city setting the distance too high means
you'll easily cover multiple speed cameras on other streets and thus won't see them. Try the default
setting of 250m. For country/highway travel where Wi-Fi is not assisting and GPS can be less stable. The longer
1,000 metre setting may be more useful.
Currently the Safety Camera Warning lets you know you are approaching safety camera location. Red light camera
and speed cameras
often only cover one leg of an intersection, or one side of a road. The alert
does not at this time distinguish between the leg or side of the road.
An audio alert may not play on all devices, browsers or operating systems.
The GPS in many mobiles is not very good. If your GPS doesn't work well there's nothing you can
do about it.
Turn Wi-Fi on. Counterintuitive as it may sound, GPS alone often gives a poor experience driving around the city.
Turning on Wi-Fi enables your device to use both GPS and Wi-Fi signals to help determine your location.
