Victoria

When live around mid 2023, Victoria will have three mobile phone seat belt cameras with a total of six planned in the coming years. Cameras will be deployed at more than 200 sites across Victoria.

Penalty will be a $545 fine and 4 demerit points. If a driver is taken to court the fine may escalate to $1,849.

Whilst it was initially stated that mobile phone seatbelt detection camera locations would not be published, the Victorian government has published a list of initial locations. Here is the list of locations sorted in suburb then street name order.

Canberra

First three mobile phone detection cameras rolled out in 2023. Motorists won't receive fines until October 2023 but will receive a warning notice from mid-year. There will be three mobile units installed on Yamba Drive, Canberra Avenue and Horse Park Drive, which will be moved across other locations for calibration purposes. There will be two fixed units installed on Hindmarsh Drive and Gungahlin Drive.

New South Wales

In 2020 it was reported NSW was expecting to roll out 45 cameras. Known cameras are reportedly on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, while other mobile phone camera locations include Nowra, Lucas Heights, Moore Park and Prospect, possibly M4 motorway at Prospect and at Anzac Parade, Moore Park

South Australia

In 2024 it was reported SA will roll out five fixed mobile phone seatbelt cameras at: Southern Expressway, Darlington; South Road, Torrensville; North South Motorway, Regency Park; Port Road, Hindmarsh and Port Wakefield Road, Gepps Cross. These will be added to the map once their existence is confirmed.

Distance to camera

Based on images for the M5 mobile phone seat belt camera, it is estimated the distance from the camera to the vehicle is around 20m. For a portable mobile phone seat belt camera on a trailer the distance is estimate to be around 10 metres.
